"Summer at Quarry Hill Farm"
by Liberty

Moo to you! It’s Liberty from Quarry Hill Farm. AnnMarie Gillilan and I sat down to chat about summer on her organic farm in Jeffersonville, Vermont!

Moo. (What’s your favorite thing about summer?)
Our favorite thing about summer is watching the cows run around in the field, spending all day outside, and NOT having to deal with snow!

Moo? (Do the cows like summer?)
They love fresh, green grass, having an open field to run in, and spending all day outside of the barn. They do not like humidity which is understandable because they’re most comfortable at 40 degrees.

Moo. Moo? (What’s your favorite summer activity?)
Driving around on our 4 wheelers or RTVs and walking through the woods.

Moo? (Do you have any summer traditions?)
We go to the 4th of July parade every year with our whole family.

Moo! (How do the cows stay cool in summer?)
They stand in the shade, sheltered deep in the woods.
What happens on a dairy farm during the summer?
Equipment maintenance, haying, fencing, manure spreading, preparing paddocks, wood splitting.

Moo? Moo? (What else happens on a dairy farm during the summer?)
Equipment maintenance, haying, fencing, manure spreading, preparing paddocks, wood splitting.

Moo!? (What’s your favorite summer treat?)
MAPLE CREEMEES!!!

That’s all for now, everyone!

Moo! (Moo!)
